"If Jim Jordan becomes Speaker, it is very unlikely that Congress will do anything on big tech in the near future," said Jon Schweppe, a policy director at the conservative American Principles Project. As Jordan's internal campaign gained momentum on Monday, Washington's thousands of lobbyists raced to determine how a Jordan speakership might impact their clients' bottom lines. "Instead, you'll see more performative anger over petty issues, designed to redirect attention away from the things that could actually hold big tech accountable," said the lobbyist. As chairman of the powerful House Judiciary Committee, Jordan has accused tech companies of censoring conservatives on their platforms. For big tech companies, the prospect of bipartisan antitrust legislation passing in Congress would amount to a far more urgent threat to their businesses than a partisan content moderation bill.

The iPhone maker in June announced its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset at an eyepopping price of $3,499 when it goes on sale next year. "There's curiosity for sure with Apple entering the market," said Tom Symonds, CEO of the UK-based VR firm Immerse. Apple CEO Tim Cook stands next to the new Apple Vision Pro headset. At its high price point, the Vision Pro will likely be more of a product for businesses, Seitz said. Initially, the price is too high and the Vision Pro will require users to wear a battery pack, creating an added nuisance during a workout.

Meta's AI initiatives are likely to be a key aspect of how it monetizes products and services going forward, while bringing more users and customers into the AI fold. Whereas Meta's headset is priced for mass-market adoption, Apple's headset is clearly a premium device targeted to those who demand the most cutting-edge technology — such as micro-OLED lenses with eye-tracking capabilities . Similarly, JMP Securities argued that the event "highlights Meta's AI tailwinds," which could "unlock additional advertising budgets with new chat-based customer service." Meanwhile, we expect adoption of Meta's Quest 3 hardware to grow. But the integration of the Meta AI assistant into that platform should ultimately make the glasses a more valuable product over time.

In one quarter — one off-cycle quarter that didn't feature a no new iPhone — Apple (AAPL) delivered a whopping $81.8 billion in sales. I came up with "own it, don't trade it" for Apple because there have been so many quarters like this one. The people who sold Apple shares on Friday no doubt sold it on their Apple devices. I would be more worried if Apple's customer satisfaction went down than I am that iPhone sales lagged. New York CNN —Months after Apple unveiled a privacy change that threatened Facebook’s core advertising business, the social networking company rebranded as Meta and shifted its focus to virtual reality. Apple (AAPL) on Monday unveiled its mixed reality headset, the Vision Pro, in one of its most ambitious product launches in years. On Thursday, just days before WWDC, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg tried to preempt the expected Apple headset announcement by teasing the Meta Quest 3. Apple on Monday unveiled its first-ever virtual reality headset, challenging Facebook-owner Meta in a market that has yet to gain widespread consumer adoption. related investing news Here's what analysts are saying about Apple's new Vision Pro headset The promise of Apple's new mixed-reality headset isn't really about the headset I got to take one for a test drive. The Vision Pro isn't large enough to fit glasses if you wear them. Even though most of the focus with Apple Vision is on the visuals, I was equally impressed by the audio.
